Hey, have you caught Mahavatar Narsimha yet? If not, the box office numbers might convince you to grab a ticket. This animated film is holding strong in theaters, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
Mahavatar Narsimha box office performance has been outstanding since its release on July 25. Directed by Ashwin Kumar, it’s an epic take on the Narasimha avatar story from Hindu mythology. The film follows the demon Hiranyakashyap’s quest for revenge against Vishnu, while his son Prahlad stays loyal to the god. Vishnu then appears as the half-man, half-lion Narasimha to set things right.
In just 18 days, the movie has collected around ₹210 crore worldwide.That’s a huge win for an animated production, especially one rooted in mythology.

Breaking it down, the domestic earnings in India stand at about ₹172 crore after 18 days. On its third Sunday alone, it pulled in ₹23 crore, which helped push the totals higher. The Hindi version has crossed ₹126 crore in India, making it the first Hindi animated film to hit the ₹100 crore mark there.
Overseas, it’s doing well too. In North America, Mahavatar Narsimha has crossed USD 1 million, with strong weekend boosts. That’s impressive for a film in this genre.
Compared to other releases, it’s now the highest-grossing animated film in India. It has beaten out movies like Hanuman, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and even Incredibles 2. Among 2025’s Bollywood films, it’s the sixth biggest Hindi hit so far.

The film was produced under Kleem Productions by Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai, and presented by Hombale Films. It came out in both 3D and 2D formats, in Hindi and several South Indian languages.
